Big Weekend for Bees’ Sports Teams
Brecksville-Broadview Heights High School wrestling and gymnastics teams take first place tournament action over the weekend. The boys basketball and swimming/diving teams didn't do so bad either.
From the mat to the pool, it was a big weekend for Brecksville-Broadview Heights' sports teams.
It’s no surprise to many that the defending state champion gymnastics team took first place at the Division I District meet on Saturday. The girls, who hosted the meet at Brecksville-Broadview Heights High School, finished with 148.825 points. Strongsville finished second, at 142.275.
The Brecksville wrestlers took first in the team standings at the first round of the Division I Sectional Tournament at Medina High School. The grapplers marked up 296 points — more than 70 points better than the second-place finisher, Wadsworth High School.

The boys basketball beat Westlake High School, 66-63, in an overtime thriller, in one of the last games of the regular season. The boys, already atop of the Southwest Conference, improved to 17-3.
In the pool, the boys and girls swimming and diving teams also had a big weekend. Cleveland.com reported that both squads had top-10 team finishes at the district meet. The Brecksville girls placed fifth with a team score of 148 while the boys finished seventh with a 105, according to the report.
