Five Brecksville-Broadview Heights Wrestlers in Tonight's Finals
After two grueling days of wrestling, five Bees have qualified for the finals and are set to compete tonight in their respective weight classes.
The final matches of the will begin at 6:30 p.m. tonight, and this year, the Bees have five wrestlers vying for the top spots in their respective weight classes.
Here’s the breakdown:
- Mitch Baran, 12, 145 lbs., will face off against Padua’s Tom McNulty in a first place bout.
- Andrew Barr, 12, 152 lbs., will tangle with Elyria’s Devan Price for third place.
- Trey Rainey, 12, 285 lbs. will attempt to overpower Marysville’s Kyle Thirkield for fifth.
- Quinton Hiles, 11, 160 lbs., will go head-to-head with Cincinnati Elder’s Tyler Hardtke for third.
- Josh Murphy, 10, 195 lbs., will square off against Lakota East’s Jacob Burton for fifth place.
To qualify, those wrestling for first didn’t lose a single match in the two-day tournament, those wrestling for third lost once and those wrestling for fifth lost twice, head coach Todd Haverdill said.

“Obviously, we’re hoping to go 5-0 tonight. But, right now, the name of the game is to just continue to get better. We just want to keep showing improvement, and I think we’re doing that,” he said.
