Get Ready for the Big Game and Support Local Sports at the Same Time

The Bee Athletic Boosters are hosting a party this weekend.

This Saturday, the Bee Athletic Boosters want you to kick off the weekend of the big game by supporting local athletes.

Throughout the year, the Brecksville-Broadview Heights athletic boosters raise money for all the teams—including club sports—in the and s.

“Our booster club is amazing,” said President Dave Best.

The club primarily raises money through membership fees and two large fundraisers every year. There’s a golf outing in August, and a Super Bowl tailgate party. This year, the party will take place at the Days Inn in Richfield on Saturday, and tickets can be purchased online.

There will be games and raffle prizes. It’s just a casual night out, Best said.

“I love doing that one,” Best added.

Everything the club raises goes back to the students. The club usually focuses on one large project—right now, the focus is on renovations for the baseball and softball fields—and then supports individual team needs. The team requests have to be for tangible items that stay with the team. For example, T-shirts that students keep wouldn’t count, but warm-ups that would stay with the team would. In the past, the boosters have bought starting blocks for the track team, kettle bells for the football team and resistance bands for the girls basketball team. They also award scholarships to graduating students.

“We’re happy to do that,” Best said.

Best has been with the boosters for five years. His son, Adam, played football and basketball and ran track when he was in high school, and his daughter, Nicole, is a sophomore who plays softball and basketball.

He said the group is welcoming to new members and open to different ideas and opinions. They meet at 7 p.m. on the first Monday of every month, barring June and July. And people don’t have to be members to attend.
