‘Sophomore Sensation’ Finishes Second at State Track Meet

Rachel Kotchman had only run the 800-meter event a few times. She's now in the history books at Brecksville-Broadview Heights High School.

In only her second time ever running the 800-meter open at the recent Austintown Regional, Rachel Kotchman qualified for the state meet.

And this past weekend, the “sophomore sensation” took second place at the state tournament at Jesse Owens Stadium in Columbus.

The Sun Star-Courier reported that the Bees’ phenom entered the race with the only goal of reaching the podium.
