Toboggan Chutes Open for Martin Luther King Day

Cleveland Metroparks Chalet will have special hours on holiday

The Chalet Toboggan Chutes will have special hours on Martin Luther King Jr. Day Jan. 21.

The chutes, located in the Cleveland Metroparks' Mill Stream Run Reservation in Strongsville, will be open noon to 5 p.m.

Regular hours at the chutes are:

  • Thursdays: 6 to 10 p.m.
  • Fridays: 6 to 10:30 p.m.
  • Saturdays: noon to 10:30 p.m.
  • Sundays: noon to 5 p.m.

Daily admission for tobogganing is $10 for adults and $8 for children 11 and under. One-time ride tickets are available for $4. Group discounts during public hours are available.

This year, a newly installed lift takes toboggans to the top of the hill so riders no longer have to carry them up.

The twin refrigerated ice chutes start with an initial drop of 70 feet, traveling over 700 feet of ice at more than 45 mph.

All riders must wear gloves or mittens. Children must be at least 42 inches tall to ride and be accompanied by an adult.

The Chalet also has a heated building with indoor/outdoor fireplaces, a gathering area with a large-screen television, a concession stand, a loft area with video games and indoor restrooms.

The Chalet Recreation Area is at 16200 Valley Parkway, between Routes 42 and 82.
