Get Ready for Home Days: Take a Look at Some of the Events Planned

Brecksville’s Home Days begin next Friday on June 29, and there is plenty planned for everyone to enjoy, from live music to pancake breakfasts to a 5K. And that’s not even counting the traditional fair food and rides!

Mayor Jerry N. Hruby said he hopes residents will come out to enjoy the downtown and their community. The local event isn’t a far drive, he said, and people can enjoy themselves by visiting the booths or the various special events.

“You don’t have to spend a lot of money while you’re here,” Hruby said.

Here’s a quick look at some of the highlights of the weekend, compiled from information provided by the city. For a look at the full schedule, visit the city’s website.

• Home Days will open just before 6 p.m. on Friday, and there will be live music for most of the night. This year's theme is "Volunteers Committed to Making Life Better."
• The first round for the will start at 8 p.m. on Friday. The second round will start at 5 p.m. on Saturday, and the third round will begin at 8 p.m. that night. The finals will be at 7 p.m. on Sunday.
• There’s a Silent Auction at on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The auction ends at 2 p.m. on Sunday, and proceeds go to the Bicentennial Scholarship Program.
• There are two chances to see fireworks during Home Days—Saturday at 10 p.m. and Sunday at 10 p.m. The bigger show is on Sunday night.
• The city’s bicentennial celebration will wrap up during Home Days with the burial of the . That will take place at 8 p.m. on Sunday.
• There are runs for both dogs and humans that weekend. The Dog Jog starts at 9 a.m. on Saturday. On Sunday morning, there’s a 1-mile family run/walk at 8:30 a.m. and a 5-K at 9 a.m.
