Brecksville Kiwanis Fills Easter Baskets for Local Kids

More than 1,700 baskets were filled last week.

Saturday morning, members of the Kiwanis Club of Brecksville took over a room on the lower floor of the Brecksville Shopping Center to fill buckets with coloring books, card games and plenty of candy for local kids.

Member Tim Spieth said the volunteers filled more than 1,500 Easter baskets on Saturday and another 250 on Wednesday. Some Key Club members helped out on Saturday, and members from the high school club also helped fill plastic eggs with candy ahead of time, Spieth said. The baskets will be distributed to kids whose families are in need in the greater Cleveland area.

The supplies in the baskets were either donated for the project or purchased with money that was donated, Spieth said.
