Photo of the Day: Frank DeWolf, Midge Cassidy Honored as Senior Volunteers of the Year

The dining room in the was full Tuesday afternoon as people gathered to honor Frank DeWolf and Midge Cassidy as this year’s Senior Volunteers of the Year.

Mayor Jerry N. Hruby noted that the volunteers had truly dedicated themselves to the , among their many other volunteer activities. Cassidy volunteers at “organization after organization, event after event,” and DeWolf has always made sure things are done right, Hruby said.

Both addressed the crowd, introducing their families and thanking those responsible for the honor. The annual event—this is the 40th pair of honorees—is run by the city and the . DeWolf reflected on the former honorees who had inspired him over the years, saying he was glad to have been exposed to volunteerism from a young age.

“To thoroughly understand your community, you have to be involved in it,” he said.
