Video: Participants Share Why They Took Part in Walk for Lupus Now 2011

The participants were walking for their family and friends.

More than 800 people took part in Saturday’s , said Leslie Vizcarra of the .

The event took place in the . The event raises money for the Greater Cleveland chapter of the foundation. Most of it stays local, and some goes to the national foundation. 

Joyce Hale, of Westlake, raised the most money of any individual, bringing in more than $5,000. Hale will get to visit Washington D.C. as part of an advocacy week. Vizcarra said the week is a chance for people to ask for more funding for research and awareness of lupus.
