Gary Max Michal, 58, Professor, Father

Services will be held Wednesday and Thursday.

Gary Max Michal of Brecksville died Friday at the age of 58. Nosek-McCreery Funeral Home is overseeing the services and provided the following information. Michal was the husband of Maureen G. (nee Whitlock), the father of Matthew J., Stephanie A. and Brian T., the son of the late Max and Susan (nee Conrad), the brother of Carol A. Chappelle (Thomas), the nephew of Sophie Kope, and the uncle of Frank, Christina, Doug and Danielle. Michal was also a professor of materials science and engineering at Case Western Reserve University. Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. and again from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Nosek-McCreery Funeral Home, and from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday at Christ the Redeemer Lutheran Church. Arthur Gilbert Quade, 83, Veteran, Doctor, Father, Grandfather

Final services will be held Tuesday morning.

Arthur Gilbert “Gil” Quade of Brecksville died Wednesday at the age of 83. Nosek-McCreery Funeral Home is overseeing the services and provided the following information. Quade was the son of the late Arthur and Doris Quade, the husband of Joan (nee MacGregor), the father of Robbie Weber (David) and Jeanne Quade, the grandfather of Justin and Ryan Weber, and the brother of the late Carl F. (Nancy, surviving) and James L. (Thelma, surviving). Quade was also a U.S. Army Veteran, a retired podiatrist from the VA Medical Center in Brecksville, and 37-year member of Theodore Breck Lodge. Cynthia M. Greene (nee Kern) of Brecksville died Wednesday at the age of 64. Nosek-McCreery Funeral Home is overseeing the services and provided the following information. Greene was the wife of Gordon J., the sister of Ronald Kern, the sister-in-law of Robert Greene (Tina), and the aunt of Barbara, Jack and Robert. Greene's final gift was that of eye donation. Friends may call at the funeral home from 3 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday. Services will begin at 7 p.m. Instead of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Brecksville Stables. Charles R. Marquardt, 55, Father, Athlete

Charles R. “Chuck” Marquardt of Brecksville died Wednesday at the age of 55 after complications from a minor procedure. Nosek-McCreery Funeral Home is overseeing the services and provided the following information. Marquardt leaves behind his wife Barbara Bender, his son David, his sister Ellen Chay (Joe), his brother Keith Marquardt (Marsha), his sister and brothers-in-law Christa and Jim Krista, Karl Bender and his niece Lauren Kriska. Marquardt enjoyed swimming, biking and running and, in his memory, his family asks drivers to remember to share the road with runners and bicyclists. Thomas Jon Harwood, 74, Dedicated Father, Grandfather

Services will be held Thursday morning.

Thomas Jon Harwood of Brecksville died Friday at the age of 74. Family was the most important part of Harwood’s life, said his son, councilman Michael Harwood. All of Harwood’s children and grandchildren still lived in the community that he had grown up in, and he recently celebrated his 50th wedding anniversary. “Family was his priority over everything else,” Michael Harwood said. Harwood was the husband of Carole (nee Williams), father of Michael (Debbie), Patricia, and Timothy (Erin), grandfather to Justin, Emily, Daniel, Matthew and Alexander, great grandfather to Adyson and brother to James. Gary S. Kosco, Father, Husband

Gary S. Kosco of Brecksville died on Monday at the age of 52. Nosek-McCreery Funeral Home, which is overseeing the services, provided the following information. Kosco was married to his wife Barbara (nee Madigan) for 25 years and leaves behind two daughters, Breanna and Jocelyn, of whom he was very proud. He was the son of Eleanore (nee Bolas) and the late Alfred Kosco. Private services are being held, and the family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Seasons of Life Hospice, 9511 W. Gerald J. Kaufman, Jr., Software Engineer, Glider Pilot

Services were held Wednesday.

Gerald J. Kaufman, Jr., of Brecksville, died last week at the age of 61. Faulhaber Funeral Home, which oversaw the services, provided the following information. Kaufman leaves behind his parents, Gerald J. Sr. and Elizabeth, his brother Michael (Pamela Findzel), his sister Deborah and his supportive friends. According to the funeral home’s website, Kaufman worked as a software engineer in Colorado and pursued many hobbies, including flying a glider. There was a memorial mass Wednesday morning and there will be a gathering for family and friends later this week. Lindberg was preceded in death by his wife, Beverly (nee Anderson).
