Laxmidas Dayalal, of Brecksville, died April 22. He was 78. Dayalal was the beloved husband of Panna; loving father of Jasmine, Milan (Rupal)and Ashith; dear grandfather of Krish and Dev and friend to many. A service — in the Hindu tradition — took place April 23.

Council unanimously approved two separate measures giving a nod to the community leaders.
The community is still mourning the recent deaths of coach Joe Vadini and former councilwoman Kay Broughton. And so is Brecksville City Council. On Tuesday night, council unanimously approved two separate measures giving a nod to the community leaders and offering condolences to the families of Vadini and Broughton. Kay Broughton, a former Brecksville resident and civic leader, died on March 27. She was 89. While she lived in Brecksville from 1957 to 2004, Broughton was remembered as a highly civically engaged resident. Among other accomplishments, she was the first female president of Brecksville City Council. Calling hours are scheduled to take place at Ripepi and Sons on Bagley Road from 2 to 4 p.m. and 5 to 8 p.m. April 4. The funeral is slated to take place at Holy Family Church in Parma at 10 a.m. April 5.
A legend in the classroom and the football field in the Brecksville-Broadview Heights School District has died. Joe Vadini died on Easter with his family at his side. It was also his 83rd birthday. Friends and former players remembered him as a great coach and teacher, family man and mentor to many. “He was a great guy, and he was very tuned in to football,” said friend and former player Jim Lid, who played for Vadini in the early 1960s. “He was also a role model; he cared for his players; he was a good coach. Above all he was a friend. Johnston was the husband of the late Gloria L. (nee Carlson); the father of William T. (Kathy), Cynthia S. Thrall (Rob) and Jill A. Mack (Rick); the grandfather of Tracie Burns (Jay), Jason and Andrew Johnston, Jessica Shannon (Dan), Megan, Robby and Zach Thrall, and Richard and Morgan Mack; the great grandfather of Addison and Carleigh; and the brother of the late Raymond (Joyce, surviving) and Winifred Mitchell (George, deceased).
