Melvin H. "Skip" Cook, 76, Veteran, Business Owner

Services will be held Thursday and Friday.

Melvin H. "Skip" Cook, of Brecksville, died Tuesday at the age of 76. Busch Funeral Home is overseeing the services and provided the following information. Cook was the husband of Joanne (nee Deeter); the father of Diane Landoll (Richard) and David; the stepfather of Tim Harbison (Lori) and Wendy Herbert (Ron); the grandfather of DJ, Peter, Katie, Rose, Logan, Diana and Erin; and the brother of the late Elaine Zerkle. Cook was a Navy veteran, a 32nd degree Mason and the retired owner/operator of Cook Bonding and Manufacturing Company in Cleveland. Visiting hours are being held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday at Busch Funeral Home. Additional hours were also held earlier on Thursday. Masonic Services will be held at 7:30 p.m. Funeral services …

Scott L. Wayne of Brecksville died suddenly on Sunday at the age of 18. Ferfolia Funeral Home is overseeing the services and provided the following information. Wayne was the son of Ronald and Ann Marie (nee Hanford); the brother of Ryan (Natalie), Adam, and Brad; the uncle and godfather of Caleb; the grandson of Arthur L. and Janice Hanford and the late John F. and Emily R. Wayne; and the nephew and cousin of many. Visiting hours will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. and from 6 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday at the Ferfolia Funeral Home in Sagamore Hills. A mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Basil the Great Church on Thursday. William E. Eckenbrecht, of Broadview Heights, died Friday at the age of 83. Nosek-McCreery Funeral Home is overseeing the services and provided the following information. Eckenbrecht was survived by his wife, Linda; a son, Carl (Annette) and a daughter, Cecily Hardin (Michael); stepsons Nathan (Tanja) and Joshua (Nida) Huck; grandchildren, Louis and David Eckenbrecht, Melissa White (Andy), Neil Hardin, and Emily Hardin; great grandchildren, Alexander and Addison White; a sister, Mary Clare Brewster and many nieces and nephews. His wife, Carlie Jean Crain, his son, Christopher, and his daughter, Gretchen, are deceased. Seth Rosen, 55, Remembered As Great Musician, Union Leader

The Westlake resident and Gene's Jazz Hot band member died Friday, July 20 while on vacation in North Carolina.

Family, friends, coworkers and union members are mourning the loss of Seth Rosen, 55, of Westlake, who drowned Friday, July 20 while vacationing in North Carolina. Rosen was vice president of Communications Workers of America District 4, representing 50,000 members in Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Michigan and Wisconsin, according to a statement about Rosen on the CWA website. Loved ones have posted condolences to the family, memories and other messages on a Facebook page dedicated to his life. The Barking Spider in Cleveland hosted a "musicians' memorial" in his honor Tuesday night. Rosen played guitar and mandolin with Gene's Jazz Hot, which performed regularly at Loganberry Books in Shaker Heights and other places around town. He was also in…

Services for Harold R. Giegel, 83, and Patricia A. Giegel, 82, of Brecksville will be held Friday. Nosek-McCreery Funeral Home is overseeing the services and provided the following information. The Giegels were married for 60 years. Alice M. Pfahl, formerly of Brecksville, died in May at the age of 96. Nosek-McCreery Funeral Home is overseeing the services and provided the following information. Pfahl was the daughter of Emily and Joseph Klinka, the wife of the late Norbert J. Pfahl, the mother of Wynn, a mother-in-law to Penny, a grandmother to four grandchildren and a great-grandmother to eight great-grandchildren. Glenn Brooks Colerider, of Brecksville, died last week at the age of 85. Busch Funeral Home oversaw the services and provided the following information on their website. Colerider was the husband of Jean (nee Caillet); the father of Kimberly Inglefield (Chuck), Tracy Colerider-Krugh (Kyle), and the late Julie Turanchik (Jim, surviving); and the grandfather of Omi Turanchik, Meredith Gutierrez, Glenna Colerider-Krugh and the late Owen Colerider-Krugh. Colerider served in World War II and later earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Akron in speech and theatre.
