Bees win tourney for third straight year; Baran, Roddy win titles.
In a field of 44 schools, Brecksville-Broadview Heights finished on top at this year’s Bill Dies Memorial Tournament held at Firestone High School this weekend. The Bees, who lead after the first day, finished the tourney with 201 points, well ahead of runner-up Copley (186). Coach Todd Haverdill’s squad had two wrestlers win individual titles in their weight class--Mitch Baran and Kyle Roddy--and four others finishing in second or third place. In the championship finals, Baran, a 130-pound junior, defeated Copley’s Zach Walker via a majority decision, 9-1. Roddy, a 160-pound senior, edged West Branch’s Adam Lamancusa, 4-3.
