A 23-year-old Brecksville man was arrested and charged with assault and obstructing official business after he was fired and threw a bottle at a clerk at around 7:30 p.m. May 7. After making several threats against the co-worker, the man returned to the Brecksville Road gas station where he had worked — and where the situation escalated — according to the police report. The man, who returned to the store with his girlfriend, launched a bottle of hand sanitizer at the employee, who promptly called the police. The man’s girlfriend, a 22-year-old Brecksville woman, was also arrested. She was charged with obstructing official business. Menacing A 67-year-old Valley Parkway man was charged with menacing following a case of reported road rage at around 7 p.m. May 6. That’s when police received a report of the man banging on the windows, screaming at the occupants, of a car in the parking lot of the Heinen’s. The man said he’d been cut off while driving. Warrant A 25-year-old Cleveland man was arrested on a warrant out of North Royalton following a traffic stop on Interstate 77 at around 7:30 a.m. May 11. A 34-year-old Lyndhurst man was charged with possession of cocaine following a traffic stop on Interstate 77 at around 9:30 a.m. May 6. Police stopped him for not having properly displayed tags on the car. Following a search of the vehicle, officers found four small bags of suspected powder and crack cocaine. They also found a couple of empty bags and a cut-up straw — suspected for using powdered cocaine. Turns out that the man also had a warrant out for his arrest out of the Mayfield Police Department for failure to appear. His car was towed and impounded. A 22-year-old Akron man was charged with possession of marijuana after he was stopped on Interstate 77 at around 7:45 p.m. May 2. Police learned that he was driving on a suspended license. After officers took him into custody, and while they completed a tow inventory, they found a small glass pipe with marijuana residue inside of it and a small amount of marijuana. He was taken to the Brecksville Police Department for processing and held for bond. His vehicle was towed and impounded.

A 35-year-old Warrensville Heights man was picked up on a warrant out of the Cuyahoga County Sheriff’s Office after Brecksville Police stopped him on Interstate 77 near Miller Road at around 7:30 p.m. stopped him May 1. According to the report, police stopped the man because he had tinted windows, broken headlights and a tinted cover blocking the license plate. Police learned that he had a warrant for failure to pay child support, although the man maintained that the warrant “was no good. He was “rude and uncooperative the entire time,” according to the report. *** The same day, a couple hours later, police stopped a 24-year-old Akron man on Interstate 77 for driving with one headlight. A RIchfield woman struck piece of metal — which turned out to be a piece of a large shelf — as she drove on the highway last week.
A Richfield woman told police that while she was driving south on Interstate 77, she struck a piece of metal grating at around 5:30 p.m. May 2. As she continued, another piece of grating “flew over the vehicle,” causing damage to the hood of the car. She was not injured during the incident. When officers from the Brecksville Police Department investigated the scene, they found what they believed to be a large metal shelf “consistent” with the wire that had become lodged in the bumper of her car.

A 39-year-old Ravenna woman and a 42-year-old Kimbolton man were arrested and charged with falsifying information to the police following a traffic stop on Interstate 77 on May 5. Officers stopped the vehicle — a red Volkwagen Jetta — for not having rear lighting on the license plate at around 11:15 p.m. They also noticed that the windows were too tinted for Ohio law. When asked for identification, the man and the woman both lied about their identities. After a brief investigation, officers learned who they were, then charged them both for providing false information to police. The man was also charged for having no rear lighting on his license plate and for having tinted windows.

A 27-year-old Cleveland woman was charged with operating a vehicle after dirving erratically, briefly leading police on a high-speed chase around a parking lot, and then arguing with officers on April 21. The woman’s passenger was charged with open container. Brecksville Police stopped the driver near Miller Road and South Edgerton Road at around 11:45 p.m. April 21 The officer found liquor in a plastic cup, and later found both women to be intoxicated. The driver failed the Breathalyzer test, registering a .17 blood-alcohol-content — more than twice the legal limit. At one point, according to the report, the drunken driver told police that she had used cocaine earlier in the evening, and at other times referring to the arresting officer …

Police stopped a vehicle for speeding on Interstate 77 near Harris Road at around 3 p.m. April 19. That’s when things got weird. Officers noticed that there was a auto dealer license plate on the vehicle out of West Virginia. The driver, a 37-year-old West Virginia man, and his two passengers, said they were delivering the vehicle to a home on E. 71st Street in Cleveland. Suspicious of the story, officers called the dealer, who said he didn’t know the driver or the occupants and the car shouldn’t be in Ohio, but at another dealership in West Virginia. Officers searched the car and found drug paraphernalia — including a few hypodermic needles — but no drugs. When the man learned that he could bond out of jail, he accepted blame for all the …
