Brecksville Company Encourages People to Stay Active, Give Back

Looking for a way to boost your New Year’s fitness resolution or for a creative way to give back? Brecksville-based company MOVABLE might have the answer.  CEO Blake Squires said his company’s MOVband helps people track all of their movement, not just the steps people take. That means it measures eveything from dancing to jumping, and translates it into mileage, according to a fact sheet from the company. It’s worn on the wrist, just like a watch, and serves as a regular reminder to stay active.  Squires, who calls himself a serial entrepreneur, said his wife came up with the idea for the company. Photos: Brecksville Runners Take on the Cleveland Marathon

This past Sunday, Brecksville resident Elizabeth Themelis took on her first marathon. "It just felt like I was ready," Themelis said. Themelis and her husband, George, ran the Rite Aid Cleveland Marathon and were nice enough to share some photos in our Pics & Clips gallery. George Themelis, who has run his share of marathons before, ran with a camera and posted 15 photos in all in the gallery. He included captions so readers could follow along with the story, so be sure to check it out! Themelis said it was a good race, even though she was disappointed with her time of 4 hours, 29 minutes and 40 seconds.
