The Congressman-elect took some time on Thursday to talk to Brecksville-Broadview Heights students about representing Northeast Ohio.
On Thursday, students at Brecksville-Broadview Heights High School had the chance to quiz future Rep. Dave Joyce on his career, his campaign and his plans for the future. Joyce visited Sean P. Brennan’s 7th period Honors American Government class. He focused on the importance of working with members of all parties and said that his decisions will be based on what’s best for Northeast Ohio. Joyce, a Republican, was elected on Nov. 6 to represent Ohio's 14th district in the House of Representatives, which stretches from Cuyahoga County all the way to Lake and Portage counties. The Lake County chambers of commerce, including the Mentor Area Chamber, hosted a forum for the region's state and national legislative candidates last week at LaMalfa Centre. Both candidates for the state's 14th district seat in U.S. Congress—Republican David Joyce and Democrat Dale Virgil Blanchard—attended the forum. Redistricting has moved Brecksville voters from District 13 to District 14. The Plain Dealer has a detailed map of the new districts. About 200 attendees filled the Brecksville Community Center Thursday night.
