Nesquik Recall: Nestle Recalls Nesquik Powder from U.S. Stores

The voluntary recall involves Nesquik powder only—no other products, according to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.

Nestlé USA last week announced a voluntary recall of some quantities of its Nesquik Chocolate Powder mix, which is stocked in stores nationally, due to a potential risk of salmonella contamination. The voluntary recall involves only Nesquik powder sold in 10.9-ounce, 21.8-ounce and 40.7-ounce canisters since early October, according to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. It does not involve other sizes of Nesquik powder or Nesquick ready-to-drink products, according to the FDA. Affected products bear the UPC codes 0 28000 68230 9, 0 28000 68090 9 or 0 28000 67990 3.  The company ordered the recall after learning that a component used to make the powder may have been contaminated with Salmonella, which can cause abdominal ailments. …

Alfalfa Sprouts Recalled Because of Listeria

An area produce company is recalling all its alfalfa sprouts because of a possible listeria contamination. The Food and Drug Administration announced Tuesday that Cleveland Beansprouts Co. alfalfa sprouts may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes. In healthy people, Listeria monocytogenes can cause high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea. But it is especially dangerous for pregnant woman, possibly causing miscarriage or stillbirth. People with compromised immune systems can get serious or fatal infections.
