Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction. Can't you smell that smell? On Feb. 16, a Fairlawn Chuck E. Cheese security guard pulled Lamar E. Hill outside of the children's arcade after detecting a strong marijuana odor emanating from his clothes. The security guard – who also works as a Summit County sheriff's deputy – found eight bags of marijuana in Hill's possession, along with $360 in cash. Hill, 25, of Akron, later admitted to stuffing a handful of the bags in the trash before exiting Chuck E. Cheese with security, according to a Fairlawn police …

Man's Wallet Stolen from Dressing Room, Thief Makes Several Purchases Within Minutes

A trip to Summit Mall turned into a nightmare for a 53-year-old Brecksville man after someone stole his wallet from his fitting room, according to a Fairlawn police report. The man went into Jos. A. Bank on Jan. 4 to try on some pants. He went into a fitting room and later walked out, leaving his jeans with his wallet inside. In the brief moment he was gone, someone took his wallet, the report stated. The man noticed his wallet was missing between 8 and 8:30 p.m. By 8:47 p.m. the thief had made three big-ticket purchases using three different credit cards at Target. The purchases were for $318 (at 8:47 p.m.), $415 (at 8:50 p.m.) and $457 (at 8:54 p.m.). The suspect tried to use another card for a purchase but it was declined, the report …

It seems there's no alleged crime too bizarre to occur in Northeast Ohio. Here are some of this week's weird calls and charges. All information was provided by police reports from departments in Patch communities. Threatening Words: Though an Akron man returned the clothing he tried to steal from Walmart, he still ended up in a Fairlawn Police cruiser. He also had some threatening words for the arresting officer. Derek Sampson, 50, tried to walk out of Walmart in Fairlawn on May 13 with three pairs of shorts. When a security officer confronted him, Sampson returned the items. Officers arrested him for theft when he tried to exit again.
