With an April freeze and a hot, dry summer, many area apple orchards are reporting that less than 10 percent of their crops were viable this fall — a bummer for those looking for some fresh, local fruit to pair with honey this High Holiday season. When Are the 2012 Jewish High Holidays?

Mark your calendars for Rosh Hashana and Yom Kippur.

The Jewish High Holidays begin soon. In 2012, Rosh Hashana starts Sept. 16 at sunset and ends Sept. 18 at sunset. Yom Kippur also begins and ends at sunset. The holiday will begin Sept. 25 and end Sept. 26. What's your favorite part of the High Holidays? Tell us in the comments.
