The doors will open at 6 p.m. with free food and live music.
The Peppermill Pub and Grill will open its doors under new ownership Wednesday night. It’s just the first night, but there are at least two reasons residents might want to stop by: free food and live music. Ken Pece, one of the new owners, said the doors will open at 6 p.m. on Wednesday and there will be a jam session like the Peppermill has traditionally hosted in the past. Chef Joe Truscello said there will be complimentary food for guests to try on Wednesday, and the full kitchen should be ready by Friday. Wednesday night will just be a soft opening, and there will be changes ahead, like a remodel and an updated menu with Italian-American food, for the restaurant, Pece said. The Mill Road restaurant closed on Aug. 25 after former owner …

The new group focuses on supporting local businesses.
The Peppermill Pub and Grill was packed Monday afternoon for the BluesNEO luncheon. The group—the acronym stands for Business Ladies United Economically and Socially in North East Ohio—exists to support local businesses and help people in the region network. The event at the Peppermill was just the group’s second, and it seemed to be a success. About 50 people had been served at the buffet lunch. Rep. Marlene Anielski, who organized the group, said she was pleased to see a mix of people in different professions, from realtors to a judge to a school superintendent. “It’s a great networking opportunity, a chance to make new friends,” said Louise Ritley of Corporate Apartment Partners of America. Barb Toman, a massage therapist at BodyWise, …

State Rep. Marlene Anielski’s new group is designed to help support local businesses and connect residents.
Looking for a way to spend your lunch break on Monday? State Rep. Marlene Anielski is hoping you’re willing to go blue—BluesNEO, that is. The group’s name stands for Business Ladies United Economically and Socially in North East Ohio, but men are welcome at the events, too. This Monday, BluesNEO will meet at the Peppermill Pub and Grill for lunch, starting at 12 p.m. The lunch will be buffet style, which will be available for a set price of $20. The new group—Monday will only be their second event—is focused on supporting local businesses and helping to connect people in the region. The event is similar to a cash mob, where people gather at a local business with the sole purpose of spending money. Cash mobs have recently taken place in …

It was another close one, Brecksville, but the Peppermill Pub and Grill came out on top again. Earlier this week, I asked you to vote for your favorite local fish fry. The competition was hot yesterday between the fish fry at the Peppermill and the American Legion Post 196, but as of 9 a.m. this morning, the Peppermill’s fans had cast more votes in our poll. I also took comments into consideration—just one from each reader—and there were no reviews on the Patch Places pages. So, congratulations Peppermill—you have Brecksville’s favorite fish fry! If you’re a fan of one of the other challengers, you can still talk up your favorite by leaving a review on their Patch Places page. Just search for the business or organization in the search bar …

You voted for your favorite, and it was a close race.
It was the Peppermill Pub and Grill! The race was close between the Peppermill and Creekside Restaurant and Bar, our runner-up. As of 9 a.m. Friday morning, when the contest closed, Creekside was in the lead in our poll. But that wasn’t the only factor in our “My Favorite Burger” contest. We also asked readers to leave their reviews, and Peppermill fans rose to the challenge. The Peppermill got 10 new reviews in the past few days, far more than any other restaurant in the contest. And it was their fans’ enthusiasm that pushed the Peppermill into the lead. So, congratulations Peppermill Pub and Grill! You have Brecksville’s favorite burger. Creekside and Courtyard Café fans, don’t despair—you can still show your love for your favorite by …
