About a week after the storms caused by Hurricane Sandy closed roads and took out power in Brecksville, things are back in order. According to FirstEnergy, less than five customers were still without power as of 4 p.m. on Monday. All the outages were expected to be fixed by the end of the day. And while the Brecksville Police report that a portion of Oakhurst Circle is closed, all other roadways have been cleared and reopened as of Monday. The power is back on for most customers.
As of 1 p.m. on Friday, about 345 customers in Brecksville were still waiting for their power to come back on, but most of the city was up and running again. According to FirstEnergy, all of the outages in Brecksville should be fixed by Sunday night. There are still a couple of trouble spots for Brecksville drivers. According to the Brecksville Police, the following roads are still closed Friday afternoon:

About 2,000 customers are still without power as of 4:45 p.m. on Tuesday, according to FirstEnergy. That number has been pretty steady since Tuesday morning. Mark Durbin, spokesperson for FirstEnergy, spoke with Beachwood Patch Editor Nikki Ferrell Tuesday afternoon. Durbin said the power should be repaired for most customers by the end of the week. Some customers, such as those west of Interstate 77 or near the lake, could see longer delays. There are also still a number of roads closed in Brecksville. Here is a list from the Brecksville Police as of 4:45 p.m. The city has postponed Wednesday’s trick or treat and rescheduled it for Sunday evening. Brecksville goes unscathed in scattered outages.
Icy conditions have contributed to a series of power outages in several Patch areas on Monday. Particularly hard hit are Lakewood and Shaker Heights. Brecksville was unaffected. FirstEnergy spokesperson Mark Durbin said, “We’re hopeful” to get power restored soon, but some areas may not be restored until Tuesday. As of about 9 a.m. Monday, 4,800 Lakewood customers were without power, Durbin said, and 1,200 Shaker Heights customers were without power. Other areas affected include Beachwood, with about 150 customers without electricity, and Solon with about 120 customers offline. Fairlawn had two customers reporting outages.
