Flower show unites two garden clubs for the first time to celebrate the Brecksville bicentennial.
The Chippewa Garden Club and the Emerald Necklace Garden Club joined together this weekend to host the “Red, White and Blooming” flower show at the Community Center.

Flower show celebrates Brecksville's bicentennial.
The "Red, White and Blooming" flower show, which is sponsored by the Emerald Necklace and the Chippewa garden clubs, is in honor of Brecksville's bicentennial. The event began yesterday, and runs again from noon through 3 p.m. today. Check back on Monday for more photos from the flower show.

The Chippewa Garden Club and Emerald Necklace Garden Club show will open to the public tomorrow afternoon.
The Community Center is just about ready for the “Red, White and Blooming” flower show to begin. Kathleen Habib, the treasurer of the Chippewa Garden Club and one of the people in charge of horticulture for the show, said that people with entries would be setting them up this afternoon and evening. She was setting up her own entries earlier this afternoon so that she could help others when they arrived. The show, which is co-hosted by the Chippewa Garden Club and the Emerald Necklace Garden Club, opens to the public at 1 p.m. Saturday.

Brecksville's bicentennial celebration continues this weekend with the “Red, White and Blooming” standard flower show. The show will include a variety of displays from members of the Chippewa Garden Club and the Emerald Necklace Garden Club. The two local clubs are joining together on the show to celebrate Brecksville’s bicentennial, said Pat Gabriel, president of the Chippewa Garden Club. The clubs have been working on the show for nearly a year, Gabriel said, noting that it takes a “lot of time and energy” to put a show like this together.
