Class has been canceled and is expected to resume Monday.
There is no school for students in the Brecksville-Broadview Heights City School District on Friday, Feb. 1, according to a message posted on the district’s website. Class is expected to be in session again on Monday. The Cuyahoga Valley Career Center is also closed today for the weather. Cleveland.com reports that more than 100 schools and districts in the area are closed because of the snow and bitterly cold temperatures. See here for the full list. The National Weather Service has the area under a lake effect snow warning until 6 a.m. on Saturday.

Update: A Winter Storm Warning for the area begins at 4 a.m. Friday.
Update, 8:05 p.m. The National Weather Service has upgraded this alert to a Winter Storm Warning. The warning will be in effect from 4 a.m. Friday until 7 p.m. Saturday. Brecksville could see six to 12 inches of snow throughout that time. Drivers should be cautious; the service notes that heavy snow and ice could make the roads dangerous. Strong winds are also still expected. The watch issued Thursday is no longer in effect. The original post follows below.
