The boys team finished eighth.
The Brecksville-Broadview Heights girls track and field team enjoyed a great day at the Southwestern Conference track meet earlier this week. Veronica Thompson's heroics in the 1600 relay and a strong team effort in every event help propel the girls to a second place finish. For the boys team, Rob Scanlon was the only team member to take a first place spot, but the team finished eighth overall. For the full story, check Brecksville Patch on Monday.

"They just swam better than we did today," said Brecksville-Broadview Heights coach Mike Schmidt. The Bees came into the meet with a chance to snap a string of five consecutive SWC crowns for the Westlake girls by winning the meet after going 7-0 in dual meets that included a 100-83 win over the Demons earlier this month. Girls swim team wins, 131-54; set sights on Southwestern Conference championship next week at Westlake.
The Brecksville-Broadview Heights girls swim team moved closer to its next goal after besting Avon Lake, 131-54, to run its record in Southwestern Conference action to 7-0 in the final meet of the regular season. "We want to win the conference," said head coach Mike Schmidt, whose team travels next weekend to the Westlake Recreation Center for the conference championship meet. "Some of our kids will have their season end at the sectional, but we expect to advance a number to the district meet and hopefully to the state meet," the Bees coach said. The Bees boys, who topped the Shoremen, 115-62, are in the middle of the SWC pack with a 3-4 record, but hope to move up in the conference meet. "We've lost a number of close meets on the boys' …
