The Brecksville Beautification Committee and the Chippewa Garden Club planted pansies yesterday.
Did you ever wonder how those pretty pansies have made their way into the planters around town for the past few years? Wonder no more. It’s an anniversary project the Brecksville Beautification Committee takes on each year.
Say hello to the first official day of spring.
Well, spring is officially here, and thanks to the unseasonably warm weather we’ve had, there are plenty of signs of the season’s change around town. Here are just a few photos I took at Public Square last Friday. You can add your own photos to the gallery above by clicking “Upload Photos and Videos.” So show us the flowers blooming in your garden, a cheerful robin hopping around your yard or your first ice cream cone of the season—whatever says spring to you!

Spring is on its way!
We have less than a week until spring officially starts. And spring means flowers! Charles Owen, the city’s horticulturist, wouldn’t give up this year’s theme for the flowers around town, but he did agree to give a few little previews of what residents can look forward to. Owen said the city works with some consultants at Classic Garden Design who keep track of the trendiest color combinations. They choose something a bit different every year, and residents will have to wait until the 10,000 plants bloom in June to see what this year’s theme is. All Owen would say is that it won’t be last year’s red, white and blue. The flower season will kick off at the very beginning of April with pansies in the downtown planters, courtesy of the …
