Bees win six individual titles, four runner-ups; prepare for Sectionals next weekend.
Kyle Roddy perhaps summed up Brecksville- Broadview Heights' day at the SWC tournament best when he said, "This just shows that hard work really pays off." The Brecksville-Broadview Heights wrestling team scored 224 points to outpace Olmsted Falls (190) to take home the Southwestern Conference title. Even more impressive was the fact the Bees had 10 of its grapplers wrestling in the finals. In all, the Bees crowned six champions, four runner-ups and two third-place finishers. Leading the way was Roddy (160 pounds), who placed sixth at last year's state championships. The senior standout went 3-0, including a 16-0 tech fall in his first match over Amherst's Mike Wearsch. Roddy pinned Midpark's Kyle Koncek in 4:45 during his second match, …

Bees’ wrestlers star on Senior Night; win 44th consecutive dual meet.
If you like pins and forfeits, this would have been the match for you. Host Brecksville-Broadview Heights recorded four pins and Midpark had six forfeits to give the Bees a dominating 72-6 win over the Meteors on Thursday night. For Brecksville-Broadview Heights wrestling head coach Todd Haverdill, he knows what Midpark is going through. "They are trying to build a good wrestling program over there (Midpark) and it’s difficult. I have been there before,” Haverdill said. “They are trying to get healthy for the conference tournament and sectionals. I don’t blame him (Midpark head coach Steve Bosko) one bit for sitting some kids; it would have been nice to have everyone wrestle, but I don’t blame him for that.” The Bees’ were led by seniors …

In a field of 44 schools, Brecksville-Broadview Heights finished on top at this year’s Bill Dies Memorial Tournament held at Firestone High School this weekend. Busy Brecksville wrestlers place third in 50th holiday tournament.
Good sports and good hosts, but not quite good enough on the mats. That was the Brecksville-Broadview Heights wrestling team on Thursday. The Bees finished third in the 50th annual Brecksville Invitational Holiday Tournament. They led early on Wednesday, slipped to third place, battled back to second, and finished with 141 points. Bedford Chanel, second a year ago, won the title with 191 points, upsetting defending Ohio Division I state champion Wadsworth. The Grizzlies, seeking a third straight crown at the BITH, totaled 167 points. Cincinnati Elder was fourth with 125 points, one more than Parma Padua. The Bees had five wrestlers place in the top eight in their respective weight classes, led by Dylan Good's second-place finish at 135 …
