Veterans Day is this Sunday, Nov. 11, and the American Legion Post 196 wants to make sure local veterans have a place to commemorate it. The post is hosting a luncheon from 1 to 3 p.m. According to the post’s monthly newsletter, the event is open to members and all other veterans. On this day 93 years ago, the World War I Allies and Germany signed an armistice, signaling the end of fighting on the Western front. In many countries, this date is now celebrated as Armistice Day to honor those who fought in World War I.
