Vonnie Anter, 74, Coordinated Special Events for Brecksville Recreation Department
She co-wrote Christmas plays with Brecksville Mayor Jerry Hruby for many years.
Vonnie Anter depicted villains in the plays she penned for Brecksville's annual Christmas festivities not as scary or evil, but as merely foolish. "Vonnie was an eternal optimist," said Bob Pilske, who worked with Anter at the Brecksville Community Center. "She made bad guys seem just stupid. That was always a common theme. It's a nice little holiday tradition." "The Little Christmas Mouse," which Anter co-wrote with Mayor Jerry Hruby in 1987, was presented again during the city's 2010 holiday celebration. It was dedicated to Anter, who died Aug. 28, at age 74. Anter, whose maiden name was Evonne Kassouf, collaborated with Hruby to write Christmas plays from 1986 through 1994.
