Last Chance: Check Out “The Producers” at Brecksville Theater on the Square

The show is running for two more weekends.

Brecksville Theater on the Square premiered “The Producers” this past weekend, and theater fans have just two more weeks to check it out. According to a press release from the theater, the show follows a Broadway producer and an accountant trying to create a failure of a play to make some quick money—comedy, of course, ensues. Director Patrick Ciamacco said the usually large show is scaled down a bit for the Brecksville location, but that it still has a "giant, Broadway feel." He's been working with a very talented cast, he added. The next performances will be held on May 4, 5 and 6 and again on May 11, 12 and 13. Friday and Saturday performances begin at 7:30 p.m., and Sunday performances begin at 2 p.m. Tickets are $14 for adults and $12…

The Brecksville-Broadview Heights Board of Education will have a special meeting at 6 p.m. on Monday. Most of the meeting will be in executive session. You can see the full agenda on the district’s website. City Council will meet at 8 p.m. on Tuesday in City Hall. If you’d like the chance to be in a play, auditions for Brecksville Theater on the Square’s next show, The Producers, are being held Monday and Tuesday. But if you prefer to stay in the audience, you’re still in luck. Brecksville Theater on the Square’s current production of August: Osage County continues this weekend. And The Great Big Home & Garden Expo continues all week.

The Brecksville branch of the Cuyahoga County Public Library is hosting “storytimes” all week. Check the library’s calendar for days and times. 5 Things You Need to Know This Week, Nov. 28 – Dec. 4

Brecksville kicks off the holiday season with its annual parade and tree lighting this weekend.

Auditions for Brecksville Theater on the Square’s production of August: Osage County continue tonight. According to the theater’s website, the auditions start at 7 p.m. According to the city’s calendar, this is the last week for leaf pick-ups. Collections for the Yuletide Hunger Program continue this week. And this is the last week for the Brecksville branch of the Cuyahoga County Public Library’s “fall storytimes.” According to the library’s website, the “storytimes” will begin again in January. Check the library's calendar for dates and times. The city’s annual Christmas parade and tree lighting will begin at 4 p.m. on Sunday, according to the city’s calendar.

Pulitzer Prize Winning Play Coming to Old Town Hall

Open auditions for "August: Osage County" will be held tomorrow and Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Brecksville Theater Blossom Hill building.

To open its 38th season, Brecksville Theater on the Square will feature the 2008 Tony and Pulitzer Prize winning play, “August: Osage County.”  The dark comedy, written by Tracy Letts, focuses on a dysfunctional Oklahoma family which is burdened by a pill-popping mother, a vanished father and three daughters who all have something to hide, according to a Brecksville Theater press release.  While the women sort out the mysterious disappearance, audiences will sit back and experience the sometimes funny and sometimes disturbing interactions among the sordid members of the Weston family.  Director Terrence Kelly will hold open auditions tomorrow and Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Brecksville Theater on the Square Blossom Hill facility on Oaks…

5 Things You Need to Know This Week, Nov. 14 – 20

This week is filled with events.

City Council meets on Tuesday. The next World War II meeting at the Human Services Center is this Wednesday. The meetings explore different aspects of life during that time period. On Thursday, the Cleveland Orchestra Youth Orchestra will play at Brecksville-Broadview Heights High School. The Kiwanis Clubs of Brecksville and Broadview Heights and the Brecksville-Broadview Heights City School District music department sponsor the event, and the proceeds go to the music programs in the district and to scholarships for students. This is the last weekend to see the Brecksville Theater on the Square’s production of Annie. There are shows on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. From the election to Veteran’s Day, there's a lot going on around town.

Brecksville Theater on the Square’s Production of “Annie” Starts Friday

The production will run for three weekends.

Brecksville Theater on the Square is wrapping up an eventful season this month with its production of Annie. The theater tried a few new things this year, like stage readings for teens and one-act operas, said board member Mary Ann Hippsley, but returned to a more familiar show for its final production of the year. “It’s a wonderful show for adults and kids alike,” said Hippsley, the producer of the show. 5 Things You Need to Know This Week, Oct. 31 – Nov. 6

From Halloween events to two theater productions and an arts fundraiser, there is a lot going on around Brecksville this week.

It’s Halloween! Trick or treat takes place from 6 to 8 p.m. tonight in Brecksville. It’s also the last day to enter our Little Pumpkin Costume Challenge. The winner will get to meet Heidi Klum, and Patch will donate $1,031 (get it?) to his or her charity of choice. Submit photos of your kids in their most creative costumes by 9 p.m. The Brecksville-Broadview Heights Middle School’s production of Drums, Girls and Dangerous Pie: A Play with Music takes place this weekend.
