Brecksville-Broadview Heights Schools Treasurer 'At a Loss' For Governor’s Comments
Governor’s office recently released information highlighting that schools funding has increased each year he’s been in office. School officials disagree with the figures.
The treasurer for the Brecksville-Broadview Heights School District says he’s “at a loss” to explain recent statements made by Gov. John Kasich that school funding has increased each year he’s been in office. “I have no idea how the statement about increased school funding could be made, so I am at a loss as to the basis for this,” said Rick Berdine, who took over the treasurer post last year. “I can assure you that this district, as well as my former district, lost state funding during the current biennium.” Kasich says that his proposed state budget, if passed, would boost the education funding above 2011 levels.
