POLL: What Do You Think of the New Marc’s?

New store opens in the renovated Brecksville Town Center last week. We thought we’d get your take on it.

It seems as if Brecksville residents are split about the new Marc’s store in the Brecksville Town Center.  The store is local chain’s first since its rebranding, according to Marc’s officials. Known for its low prices, the store features fresh produce, meats and organic food — as well as a cold-cuts counter. The store at 7510 Chippewa Rd. opened in the space most-recently occupied by Giant Eagle. That grocery store closed in 2011. The new Marc's store is larger than the Giant Eagle was — interior renovations and construction gave Marc’s an additional 16,000 square feet for a total of 46,000 square feet.  Given its prominent location, the store has drawn mixed reactions from Brecksville residents. We thought we’d see what you thought of the…

Attracting the wrong crowd. Brecksville is a tight community and has no need for drawing people from other communities in. I enjoy the quaint and quietness of the community and prefer high end or mom and pop shops. The store is an eye sore to the community. Disappointing.   more ›

Store is expected to open on Feb. 15.

The lights are on, the signs above the aisles are up and the shelves are stocked. The new Marc's is slated to open its doors in the renovated Brecksville Town Center on Feb. 15. A construction worker putting finishing touches on the space told Brecksville Patch that the opening is right on schedule. The only remaining task — besides stocking the fresh and frozen foods — is the sign on the front of the building at at 7510 Chippewa Rd.  The store is opening in the space most-recently occupied by Giant Eagle. That grocery store closed in 2011. The space has been vacant since. Marc’s Sunday Wine Sales: On the Ballot

Brecksville voters will get to decide whether the future Marc’s store can sell wine and mixed beverages on Sundays.

For voters in Brecksville’s precinct G, there’s an extra item on the ballot: Whether the future Marc’s store on Chippewa Road should be able to sell wine and mixed beverages on Sundays. The store has already applied for permits to allow beer and wine sales, but a D6 permit—the one allowing Sunday sales of wine—requires approval of local residents, Terri Kauffman, administrative assistant to Marc’s advertising director, said in an email. The store wants to be able to stay competitive with other local retailers that have Sunday sales.   The issue, Issue 27 on the ballot, would allow sales at Marc’s between 10 a.m. and midnight on Sundays.  For more election news, make sure to check our Brecksville Election Guide.

Take a Look at the Latest Plans for Marc’s

Plans for the new Marc’s store are still moving forward.

There hasn't been much news lately, but plans for the new Marc’s store are moving forward. The rendering from ADA Architects above shows the planned design for the front of the building. According to the minutes from the Sept. 6 Planning Commission meeting, the design will include three different styles of brick, two types of siding, six shopping cart corrals and 392 parking spaces. Plans for outdoor lighting and signs will come at a later date. What do you want to know about the new Marc’s? Leave your questions in the comments.

Marc's isn't a bad store to shop at. I have never had a bad experience with any of the employees and if you like spending more money go to Heinens or Giant Eagle (obviously some of us think moving to brecksville is a change in social status and like to spend more money just because they can.) I can guarantee you will get through this and you'll most likely be at the store from time to time.   more ›
