Council OK’s Zoning Change at Blossom Hill
Although the zoning change would give the "Office Building" zoning distinction to the property, the council measure is considered a sort of "housekeeping" issue.
After the full three readings, Brecksville City Council OK’d measure that would give an “overlay” to the zoning map for the city’s Blossom Hill property on Oakes Road.
The measure will now be left up to the voters in the November election.
Although the zoning change would give the “Office Building” zoning distinction to the property, the council measure is considered a sort of “housekeeping” measure.

“We are hopeful our residents will agree with this housekeeping zoning change at the November election for the couple of buildings that would be affected on that property,” said council president Greg Skaljac after Tuesday’s meeting.
Mayor Jerry Hruby recently told Brecksville Patch that the change would simply allow the city to have offices at the property — think administrative outposts — should it be needed.

“Some are going to say ‘oh my gosh, we’re going to have this big office building there,’” Hruby said. “Once they hear that’s not the case, it will all go to rest.”
Hruby said he met with the planning commission, and added that any other uses besides “community facility” — including schools, recreational facilities and athletic fields — would not be permitted without a zoning change.
