State Route 82 Reopens to Traffic

After two weeks, state Route 82 has reopened to traffic in both directions.

The entire project will take a few months, and the road was closed during the first two weeks of construction.

However, traffic may be reduced to a single lane in each direction at times for continued work.

Because SR 82 is a main artery of traffic, city officials had hoped to have to have the closure wrapped up by the time school buses began routes.

The failed culvert had caused some slippage and barriers were posted to keep drivers away from the area until construction begins.

Earlier this year, city officials learned that the city is receiving a grant for $230,000 for construction costs from the Ohio Department of Transportation. 

After lots of rain slowed the contractors’ schedule, the closure of state Route 82 was delayed.
