Cuyahoga Valley National Park Director is Leaving Post in Brecksville

Stan Austin is taking a new position overseeing 68 parks in the national park system, according to the Plain Dealer.

The superintendent of the Cuyahoga Valley National Park is leaving his position in Brecksville.

Stan Austin, who’s held the post for the past three years, is leaving his job in Brecksville to take on a bigger role in the national park system, according to the Plain Dealer.

Austin, a 54-year-old Shaker Heights resident, has been promoted to director of the National Park Service, Southeast Region, where he will oversee nearly 70 parks — from the Virgin Islands to the Great Smokey Mountains.

During his leadership, the Cuyahoga Valley National Park has become one of the most-visited national parks in the United States.

Austin begins his new job, based in Atlanta, in mid-July.
