Brecksville Senior Makes Top 20 Chemistry Students in USA

Matt Adrianowycz could represent Brecksville-Broadview Heights High School in the international competition this summer.

Matt Adrianowycz, a Brecksville-Broadview Heights High School senior, has been named a Chemistry Olympiad national finalist.

The honor makes him one of the top 20 high school chemistry students in the United States, according to a media release.

Adrianowycz will attend a study camp at the US Air Force Academy in June for two weeks.

This is the third consecutive year that BBHHS has had a student qualify as one of the top 20 chemistry students in the nation and attend this camp.

The top four students from the study camp will then represent the US at the International Chemistry Olympiad which will be held in Moscow, Russia in July 2013.

Approximately 10,000 U.S. students participate in local Chemistry Olympiad competitions. Exams are administered and coordinated by American Chemical Society local sections annually in March.

Students are nominated for the U.S. National Chemistry Olympiad competition based on exam scores and teacher recommendations.
